Oregon NYE 2018 - Twelve Creatives, One Cabin
I have an exercise for you. I want you to pretend it is New Years Eve and to write out your year as if it has already happened... What have you accomplished? Who are you with and where? How do you feel? Goals, relationships, business ideas, everything. Try to be as specific as possible and don't stop writing for 20 minutes even if some of it doesn't make sense.
Back in April I attended a retreat that asked me to do this very exercise. Eight months later a strange thing happened – almost everything that I wrote about had come true. Amongst other things, one of those pages said I was welcoming in the year with a big group of my friends in a cabin in the woods. We would play games (gosh I love games) and sit by the fire and make big meals together. Cue the historic Loloma Lodge (two hours outside of Bend, Oregon in the lush McKenzie River area) and a healthy dose of Bananagrams. For twelve of us creatives with absolutely crazy travel schedules and lives in five separate states, the fact that we were all able to be under one roof for five days is a minor miracle. Thank Glamping Hub for fielding my extremely last minute request of finding a lodge to accommodate 12 + a wolf dog during the holidays :) They specialize in experiential and upscale camping accommodation and you can see more of their properties around the world here.
Here's a little of what we got up to. All places, with the exception of Smith Rock, were less than a half hour from our cabin which made the whole week so much more relaxing.
Day 1: Hot spring adventure to Cougar/Terwilliger Hotsprings *note the road has since been closed due to a massive rock slide so check on conditions (22 min). Belnap Hotsprings is another option I haven't personally been to that one.
Day 2: Proxy Falls, sunset hike up Smith Rock's Misery Ridge (1 hr 40)
Day 3: Day hike to Tamolitch Blue Pool (16 min away), scenic drive around McKenzie Pass's lava rock moonscape
Day 4: Highline set up at Koosah Falls, visit to Sahalie Falls (20 min away)
“Manifesting” as it's so often called, is nothing new, yet this past year was the first time I really saw how powerful it can be. So I encourage you write it out. I truly believe what we put out into the world will seek to be known. That's not to say it doesn't take determination or planning or a bit of luck, but really, where do you want to be this next year? And now how hard are you willing to work to make it happen?
